Milestone reached for Tauranga's new library and community hub

A significant milestone has been reached in Tauranga’s civic regeneration project Te Manawataki o Te Papa, with the new library and community hub achieving practical completion.

As development manager for the project, Willis Bond is proud to be working alongside Tauranga City Council, mana whenua, LT McGuinness, Studio Pacific Architecture and the wider project team to help deliver the first completed new building within the transformative civic precinct.

More than a library, the building has been designed as a welcoming community destination where people can learn, create, connect and access a wide range of cultural, educational and civic services. The building includes flexible community spaces, research facilities, technology-rich maker spaces and dedicated areas for children and families.

With construction complete, the project now moves into its fit-out phase ahead of opening to the community on 16 October.

Reaching practical completion is an important milestone for everyone involved and marks another step towards creating a vibrant civic heart that will serve Tauranga for generations to come.

Willis Bond is honoured to be part of the partnership bringing Te Manawataki o Te Papa to life.
