Mareanui - 90 Devonport Road receives Supreme Honour at the 2026 New Zealand Property Industry Awards
Willis Bond is proud to celebrate the success of Mareanui – 90 Devonport Road, Tauranga, which has been recognised with the Rider Levett Bucknall Supreme Award at the 2026 Property Council New Zealand Property Industry Awards.
The Supreme Award is the highest honour presented by New Zealand's property industry, recognising the project judged to be the country's most outstanding example of excellence in property development, design, construction and long-term value.
In addition to receiving the Supreme Award, Mareanui was also awarded the RCP Commercial Office Property Award and the Resene Sustainable Building Property Award, making it the most highly awarded project of the evening.
Developed by Willis Bond on behalf of Property Income Fund, Mareanui is Tauranga City Council's new civic workplace and New Zealand's largest modern mass timber office building. The eight-storey, 10,400-square-metre development has played an important role in the revitalisation of Tauranga's city centre while its 6 Green Star rating sets a new benchmark for sustainable commercial development. Its innovative use of engineered timber, strong environmental performance and commitment to wellbeing demonstrate how thoughtful development can create enduring value for both communities and building occupants.
Property Council New Zealand described Mareanui as the type of project the Awards were established to recognise - one that is "commercially disciplined, deeply collaborative and significant beyond the building itself." The judges also praised the project as a benchmark for the next generation of low-carbon commercial development in New Zealand.
This achievement reflects the vision, expertise and dedication of an exceptional team of consultants, contractors and project partners. Willis Bond is grateful to everyone who contributed to bringing Mareanui to life:
Receiving the industry's highest recognition is a proud milestone for everyone involved in Mareanui. More importantly, it reinforces what can be achieved through strong partnerships, a shared commitment to sustainability, and a focus on creating places that deliver lasting value for the communities they serve.
Willis Bond extends its congratulations and thanks to every member of the project team whose collaboration and commitment made this achievement possible.
