Partner:
Tauranga City Council
Status:
In progress

Willis Bond has entered into a 12-year partnering agreement with Tauranga City Council to deliver property solutions on council-owned land that will rejuvenate the Tauranga city centre.

Willis Bond has worked in collaboration with Tauranga City Council, and mana whenua including representatives from Ngai Tamarāwaho, Ngāti Tapu and Te Materāwaho to refresh the Tauranga Civic Precinct Masterplan, which was originally adopted in 2018.

The refreshed masterplan includes multiple new facilities including a civic whare, exhibition and museum building, and a community hub building incorporating a library and customer services centre. The masterplan also includes new landscaping and the waterfront reserve, linking the Te Manawataki o Te Papa precinct to the Tauranga moana.

The refreshed masterplan was formally approved by the Commission in December 2021. This work is separate, but complemented by our 90 Devonport Road project, which was successfully delivered in March 2025.

The masterplan includes a civic whare, exhibition and museum building, and a community hub building which includes a library and customer service centre.
