Blue Mountains Campus Welcomes New Biotech and Safety-Tech Leaders

Blue Mountains Campus continues to strengthen its position as the Wellington region’s most resilient hub for innovation, with Chitogel Limited and Dräger joining its growing community of science and technology businesses.

Chitogel, a homegrown biotech company known for its clinically proven hydrogel that improves post-surgery healing, has established a 335sqm global production plant and laboratory on campus. “Relocating to Blue Mountains Campus is critical to our future,” says CEO Edward Lamb, citing rapid international growth and the need for a secure, scalable base.

Dräger, a global leader in medical and safety technology, has also chosen the campus for its Wellington operations, leasing 115sqm for its safety equipment calibration team. Managing Director AJ Moreland says the setting and facilities provide “exactly the kind of great workspace we’ve been searching for.”

“We’re delighted to welcome Chitogel and Dräger,” says David McGuinness, Director of Willis Bond. “It’s exciting to see our vision for a future-focused innovation community continuing to take shape.”

Limited leasing opportunities remain

With strong demand driving Stage 1 leasing, a small number of premium spaces remain available – including 395 square metres of north-facing space on Level 3 of the Buddle Building, and ready-to-occupy office suites ideal for sole traders or small teams on Level 2.

The campus offers extensive amenities, including meeting rooms, end-of-trip facilities with secure bike storage, showers, and changing rooms, all set within park-like grounds featuring an onsite café.

Located at 68 Ward Street, Upper Hutt, on one of Wellington’s most resilient sites, Blue Mountains Campus combines engineered resilience, green surroundings, and excellent transport links with bus and train access. With Stage 1 complete, the wider campus also has scope for new buildings designed for office, lab, or high-tech workspaces through to light manufacturing.
