Catalina Bay Precinct
A seaside village in Hobsonville Point
Catalina Bay is an active seaside village on 1.8 hectares of north-facing waterfront land at the tip of Hobsonville Point. It represents a true mixed-use precinct, consisting of a considered blend of quality retail, hospitality, commercial and residential offerings.
Located only 11km from the CBD and connected by ferry, bus and both north and west motorways, Catalina Bay is an ideally situated hub for the burgeoning Hobsonville Point community, as well as an attractive destination within the wider Auckland area.
Willis Bond successfully acquired the rights to develop this land in August 2016 and and is developing the precinct as a multi-stage masterplan. The first and second stages are complete; stage one comprises seven refurbished air force buildings, which have been transformed into a mixture of hospitality, commercial, office, and retail offerings and a new home for the popular Catalina Bay Farmers Market; stage two is the award-winning Catalina Bay Apartments.
Tenants include Little Creatures and its state-of-the-art micro-brewery in the Sunderland Hangar, Kāinga Ora (formerly HLC), which has taken office space in the Catalina Workshop buildings, seaside bistro Fabric Cafe, run by experienced local operators, and southeast Asian restaurant Siamese Doll. Willis Bond also runs The Hangar co-working space, which is located above Little Creatures in the main hangar building.

A cornerstone of the project is the recognition of the site’s rich and important history; it was owned by the Royal New Zealand Air Force and was historically the home and launching site for the impressive Catalina and Sunderland flying-boats.
